Food: 5/5
Service: 4/5
Atmosphere: 4.5/5
This is my review on my visit early in December 2023.
Food - We chose the following sets: Discovery Set and the Vegetarian Set. I really enjoyed all the dishes. Many of the dishes, I can see its inspiration from other cuisines like French, Italian, and that kind of incorporation with the dishes presented really showcased the blend of many cuisines. I also appreciated the types of items and flavor points that the chef highlighted for each dish. It does get pretty filling due to the time it takes per item, but if you want more food or to discover the entire collection of what the chef offers, then probably the Omakase would be a good pick when visiting.
Service - When it comes to the service, this was one area I think could be more consistent/needs improvement. When we first started, the chef(s) were pretty attentive to us, and came over to chat about each dish in our course, went into more detail, and were there to answer questions. In the middle of our dining, it switched over the the waiters, and it was more or less just reading off the menu. I think when it comes to this, it might be better to have either the chef have their full attention throughout the dining experience, or just have the waiters come only (to make it more consistent) Still, the service was overall really great, and this was my only main comment on which I felt could be better.
Atmosphere - The atmosphere during dinner was really cool, I liked the overall aesthetics of the restaurant, and the low level lighting helped focus directly on the food and people you are with.
Overall, highly recommend trying out Revolver if you get the opportunity.
My favourite ‘atas’ (fancy) Indian restaurant in Singapore - it has a very NY vibe, mostly counter seating next to strangers, and the flame-kissed dishes prepared before you. Food is flavourful and heavy, so come hungry.
First time visit in July 2023. Not really a fan of modern Indian cuisine but this place proves me wrong! All the dishes are heavily packed with authentic Indian spices, even the use of uncommon ingredients like scallop and lobsters incorporates very well with their unique spice mix. It was so intense that I have to ask for a palette cleanser half-way through the course (in a good way). Every single course was well executed and was very impressed with their fire-based cooking technique. Will return again and hopefully they can maintain the consistency.
I don’t have fondness for indian food. Considering this place serves indian food, it was not an easy decision for me to visit this restaurant.
My close friend strongly recommended this place, so I decided to give it a try.
We tried lunch omakase and added butter chicken kulchette. In the first dish, spice was too strong for me, so I requested less usage of spices. From the second dish and onwards, everything was right. They use fresh ingredients, and kulchette made on the spot was amazing!
The only dish I did not fancy was dessert. It was way too sweet for my palate. Guava sorbet would have tasted better with less sugar.
Funnily enough, this meal had a long lasting impact on my taste buds and hence on memory..
We were seated in a bar- a very similar seating to that of the old Burnt Ends. I did not like it. I prefer being seated in a proper table. Apart from this fact, service was spot on. Food was good - exceeding my expectations.
Came over to Revolver for my birthday. The food was rather delectable and full of flavor. It was my first non-japanese omakase experience and I had to say, the food and service blew my mind away. Being an Indian myself, I was too shocked to see that a common every day ingredient could be turned to a fine dining dish.
They were not stingy with the portion and super generous with the caviar and truffles which I loved.
Service was so good too. Ms Sheri served our table and she was so sweet and kind to both me and my husband. She explained each food and we even chatted with her casually about the different kinds of indian food. I loved her warm nature and she was so heartwarming to us.
Special recognition to Mr Agnel Sathiananthan, the wine sommelier too. He recommended us some good wine for us to pair with the food and his wine selections were excellent. His service was amazing and rather pleasant too.
Overall price is pretty much on the steep side, but I have to say it definitely is worth it especially for a special occasion.
Finally ticked off this restaurant from my To Try List; heard the normal ala carte menu is better though. This was the Big Night Out menu; the dishes were nice but felt overall pretty heavy. Top 2 favourite items were probably the kulchette and tomahawk.
Pictured:
- Romanesco | Fresh Ginger & Cumin
- Turbot | Malwani Reduction
- King Crab | Garlic Pepper Butter
- Iberico Pork Ribs | Smoked Naga Chillies
- Mayura Station Tomahawk
- Parmesan Kulchette | Black Truffle
- Stick Kulfi | Dulce de Leche
Very nice ambiance with the open fire kitchen. I chose the discovery menu that included dishes such as lamb chops and sea bass. The courses were tasty but not amazing especially for its price.
We’re working our way (slowly) through the crop of upscale Indian-fusion restaurants starting with Revolver. It’s a great choice for a social night out with service and ambience to match the aspirational dishes.
Go for the omakase or experience options. For our meal, it was an adventure across a few regions in India (Kerala was prominent in our meal), a nice nod to the diversity of cuisine across South Asia. The only drawback to the meal was that it was almost too much, especially with a final serving of naan and caviar that we ended up having to da bao home =)
